At Equip Conference, our aim is to train people to understand and teach the word of God.
We get together with Christians from all over NZ, to sing God’s praises and listen to God’s Word. With support and feedback from pastors and Bible teachers from around the country, we gather in small groups and give you tools to help you understand any part of the Bible, and to teach it to others. We call them strand groups, and each year at Equip you will complete a different strand.
Equip Conference is designed to be completed over a number of years, with delegates completing one strand each year. These small groups are where you will learn how to handle God's word correctly and teach it to others.
In strand one you will learn how to understand a New Testament passage and be given a method for teaching it to others.
In strand two (Biblical Theology) you will be given tools to help you understand an Old Testament passage.
In strand three (Systematic Theology), you will learn how to discover what the whole Bible says on any particular subject.
Strand 4 is new to Equip in 2018. In this strand you will be given tools to help you understand what the bible teaches regarding ethical issues.
In our youth strand (for those in school years 9-13), we teach some basic methods of Bible study and join the main sessions with the keynote speakers.
We encourage delegates who have completed each of the strands, to return to Equip Conference as a volunteer. Our volunteers work in the background to make sure the conference runs smoothly. If you would like to volunteer to help in this way, please register as a service strand delegate.
In the afternoons at Equip you will attend different seminars which look at practical aspects of Christian ministry. Over the course of the week you will have the opportunity to attend seminars on things like evangelism, youth ministry, leading a small group, discipleship, personal holiness and more.
Every day at equip begins and ends with us gathering together to spend time singing praise to our great God, listening to God's word powerfully taught by our keynote speakers and hear stories of how God has worked in the lives of others.
Anyone is welcome to join us at Equip Conference for our evening meetings and no registration is required. The meetings begin at 7:30pm and are followed by supper. Join us as we sing praises to our Heavenly Father, listen to His Word preached, and share fellowship together. It's a great way to be a part of the conference and to get a taste of what a full week at Equip is like.
(The evening meetings in the South Island are held at Kaiapoi High School.)
There is nothing that reveals the depths of God’s love more than his pursuit of his people. Through grace, the unfaithful and unworthy wife of Hosea is welcomed back; and through grace, sinners like us are called to be the beloved Bride of Christ in the book of Revelation. This divine, undying, and scandalous love has the power to transform lives, preserve faith, and win a great cosmic battle against evil. That’s why we would love to invite you to Equip 2018: Scandalous Love (Hosea and Revelation).
After studying law at Cambridge University and a brief spell doing student ministry in South Africa, Vaughan moved to Oxford to study Theology at Wycliffe Hall. Vaughan is the Senior Pastor at St Ebbe’s Church in Oxford in the UK and is also the Director of the Proclamation Trust, an organisation that encourages and equips Bible teachers. Vaughan previously spoke for our 2015 conferences. In 2018, he will be speaking from the book of Revelation.
Paul Davison has served as the pastor of Hastings Baptist Church since 1999. Before taking up full-time ministry, Paul worked in the corporate IT industry and spent time as a business analyst. He has been married to Joy for 30 years — together they have four daughters (two graduates, one at university, and one finishing high school). Paul will be speaking to us from the book of Hosea.
