We gather each morning and evening to sing praises to our great God and to hear his word taught. In small groups we learn how to prepare and write Bible studies, and receive encouragement and feedback from experienced leaders. We also spend time thinking through practical aspects of Christian ministry such as evangelism, discipleship, youth work, personal holiness and much more. There's no better way to start the year than being grounded in God's word, equipped to serve him and his people, and inspired by a community of Christian brothers and sisters from around the country.
We'd love to have you join us.
Vaughan came to faith as he read through Matthew’s Gospel for himself as a teenager. After studying law at Cambridge University and a brief spell doing student ministry in South Africa, he moved to Oxford to study Theology at Wycliffe Hall and has lived in the city ever since. In 1991 he joined the staff of St Ebbe’s Church to lead the student ministry and since 1998 he has been Rector. He is also the Director of the Proclamation Trust, an organisation that encourages and equips Bible teachers. In his spare time Vaughan writes books and plays cricket and golf.
Dave is married to Amanda and they have three young boys. Dave has been a Christian since his days at university and is now the minister of St Saviour’s and St Nicholas in Sydenham, Christchurch. He is looking forward to opening Philippians and being challenged and encouraged to rejoice in our salvation which the Lord Jesus has won for us.
Equip Conference is designed to be completed over three years, with delegates completing one strand each year. In your strand group, you will learn how to understand a part of the Bible and prepare a Bible study on it. At the end of the week you will have the opportunity to present your Bible study to a small group and receive feedback from our experienced strand leaders.
In strand one you will learn how to understand a New Testament passage and prepare a Bible study.
In strand two you will learn how to understand an Old Testament passage, and prepare a Bible study.
In strand three, you will learn how to discover what the whole Bible says on a particular topic and prepare a Bible study.
We encourage delegates who have completed all three strands, to return to Equip Conference for a fourth strand as a volunteer. Our volunteers work in the background to make sure the conference runs smoothly. If you would like to volunteer to help in this way, please register as a strand four delegate.
In the afternoons at Equip you will attend different workshops which look at practical aspects of Christian ministry. Over the course of the week you will have the opportunity to attend workshops on things like evangelism, youth ministry, leading a small group, discipleship, personal holiness and more. There will be more information on our 2015 workshops coming soon, so watch this space!
Anyone is welcome to join us at Equip Conference for our evening meetings and no registration is required. The meetings begin at 7:30pm and are followed by supper. Join us as we sing praises to our Heavenly Father, listen to His Word preached, and share fellowship together. It's a great way to be a part of the conference and to get a taste of what a full week at Equip is like.
